Victorian Way of Death – 3 – Kensal Green

Scroll down to content

As someone who spends a large amount of time wandering alone round cemeteries, I don’t scare easy. But there is something about Kensal Green, one of the Magnificent Seven cemeteries of London, that makes me feel uncomfortable.

I don’t know if it’s because it’s still very heavily used, or because it has a bleak industrial backdrop, or because there are a large number of graves with people’s pictures on them. Whatever, it gives me the heebeejeebies.

I realise that the third picture is not Victorian, but it’s in a Victorian cemetery, so I stand by it.
