I didn’t enjoy the Vatican all that much. I mean, it’s fabulous and unique and all of that, but it was heaving with people. And the officials who think it’s ok to charge a fortune for entry, and who have no problem with it being used as a tourist venue, are the same people who officiously hush you in the Sistine Chapel because it’s all so very sacred.

I’ve noticed it at other chapels. At Henry VIII’s chapel in Hampton Court Palace, they ban photos and require quiet because it was a place of worship. The man murdered his wives.

Well quite – I mean, they are all places for worship – I’m not saying you should allow people to run around naked and yelling obscenities, but to hush a gentle murder did seem a bit much.
